CHARACTERISTICS

Substrate based on acidic and neutral blonde peat which gives softness and an ideal pH for the cultivation of the most common carnivorous plants (Dionaea, Sarracenia, Drosera, etc...). The substrate is enriched with respiration flakes (perlite) which promote a balanced water supply to the root system of the plants, preventing water stagnation which is harmful to these plants which in fact prefer moist but well-drained soils.

METHOD OF USE

For correct repotting:

use containers made of plastic, terracotta or other material, preferring those pots with a hole in the bottom for water drainage, in order to prevent rotting of the root system.

Distribute expanded clay on the bottom of the pot to a thickness equal to 1/5-1/6 of the height of the pot itself in order to guarantee the maintenance of a suitable humidity level and cover with the substrate, pressing well both in the center and on the side.

Insert the plant, taking care to remove the old soil from the surface part of the root ball in order to prevent any rotting and add more substrate, always pressing adequately.

Water carefully and slowly, until the water begins to drain from the drainage hole. Before repeating watering, make sure that the substrate begins to dry on the surface and do not water excessively.

Every 2-3 weeks it is advisable to weed the surface of the substrate with a rake so that it is loosened and aerated.

WARNINGS: especially when using plastic containers, traditional substrates, as they dry, shrink significantly and detach from the walls, making watering unnecessary. This is because the water filters through the gap that has been created and flows away without humidifying the ground. Thanks to the presence of a balanced mixture of peats, these problems are reduced, facilitating rapid rewetting of the substrate.
